Before the Sandiganbayan releases an arrest order, actor and Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman Ronnie Ricketts posted bail for his temporary freedom this Friday amounting to P30,000.

Accompanied by his lawyer Atty. Numerio Rodriguez, Ricketts went to the clerk of court office of the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division.

After bailing out, Ricketts went off immediately without having an interview with the media.

The corruption case against Ricketts was filed by the Office of the Ombudsman. This is all about the alleged return made by OMB to Sky High Marketing Corporation of their confiscated pirated DVDs and VCDs, and other items in 2010.

In September 2014, Ronnie Ricketts and four other board officials were called for suspension after an investigation of the Ombudsman stating that the group neglected their administrative responsibility in releasing confiscated items from a raid and failing to file cases against the suspects.

In the recent case OMB executive director Cyrus Paul Valenzuela, OMB Enforcement and Inspection Division (EID) head Manuel Mangubat, EID investigation agent Joseph Arnaldo, and EID computer operator Glenn Perez, are also involved together with Ricketts.

Rodriguez maintains that his client is innocent and the case does not have strong basis. He also declined to talk about the case because it is already under judicial consideration.

According to Rodriguez, Ricketts was bothered about the case at first especially how he could explain the situation to his family. He said, Ricketts like any other human being was worried about it and wants to explain it carefully to his children.

Rodriguez concluded that other than the normal feeling of having a case, Ricketts is fine. He said he believes Ricketts will get through this.
