Richard L. King who is the owner of Crown Regency Group of
Hotels was killed by a gun shot inside the Vital C building at Sobrecary St.
Davao City around 6:45 p.m. Thursday
Based on the investigation conducted by the Criminal
Investigation and Detection Group (CIDH) King died on the spot caused by its
multiple gunshot wounds. He came in Davao City to attend the end ceremony of
the Vital C wellness training which is one of his business ventures. His ideal
on hotel businesses became popular to many other businessmen.
The authorities from CIDG are currently investigating the
crime with the assistance from local police in Davao. They are still looking at
many angles that might be the cause of the killing knowing that King was the
chairman and chief executive officer of J. king and Sons Co. Inc. He also owns
lots of big time business including the Club Ultima, the City Suites Ramos
Tower, founder and director of Boracay Mulitple Properties Inc. and developer
of Crown Regency.
Before the shooting happened, King was enjoying his meal
with the visitors and other employees at the hotel’s ground floor. Then a man
entered the establishment and shot King several times that caused him to bleed
to death. The man is medium build and about 5’55” tall who immediately left after
the shooting as he rode on a black XRM motorcycle with his companion waiting
outside.
The police are having a hard time to solve the case
because the building has no camera and the security guard was not around when
the shooting happened. But witnesses are helping the team to come up with the
man’s sketch.
King encountered several controversies with some of its
business transactions and authority are looking at this angle that the killing
might be business-related. In 2002, he received a death threat from Nelson and
Lucy Go who were business partners of Roderick Go who owed him pP97 million.
The investigation
continues and authorities are working hard to figure out the true reason for
murder.
