Report claims that a mummified body of a child, Ralia Lombardo has been "blinking" and now exposed as hype. The child is also called "Sleeping Beauty" by most people.
Rosalia Lombardo died in the 1920s when she was two years old. She is one of the 8000 bodies preserved in the catacombs beneath a convent in Palermo, Sicily.
Recently, Italian newspapers have been reporting that the girl’s well-preserved eyelids have been moving several times each day. The mummified corpse had clear blue eyes peeping out from her curly blonde locks.
Many visitors came into the area to see and witness the extraordinary event.
Italian reports state that an investigation of the claim came up trumps.
Instead, it discovered a more mundane explanation thateverything is just an optical illusion created by the light that filters through the side windows, which during the day is subject to change, said Dario Piombino-Mascali who is the curator of the Capuchin Catacombs.
Mascali added that the mummified eyelids are not entirely closed, the curator said, which only serves to fire-up speculation. But at no point does anything resembling blue eyes appear.
Ralia’s real secret was uncovered in 2009 when the secret chemical formula behind her highly successful embalming was discovered.
A handwritten manuscript by an embalmer who was the friend of Rosalia’s father was found. It said the child’s remains had been preserved with a mixture containing “one part glycerine, one part formalin saturated with both zinc sulfate and chloride, and one part of an alcohol solution saturated with salicylic acid.”
The recent move to the controlled glass case was to ensure the child’s body remains intact,
